Wuthering Heights- background info

I have started to read Wuthering Heights and I am enjoying it immensely! :)

Here is some background information on the author - Emily Bronte

Emily Bronte was born in 1818 on July 30th in Yorkshire England. She has three sisters and one brother. Her two sisters, Charlotte and Anne, have also written books. Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre. (Never read it but I've heard it's good..) All of the children in the Bronte family were very creative and had active imaginations. Emily loved reading and making up stories with her siblings.
Emily Bronte published Wuthering Heights, some poems and short stories under the pen name Ellis Bell. Her sister also used male pen names - Acton Bell and Currer Bell.
She died in 1848 of Tuberculosis. Her siblings also died of this disease.

AP Reading

I started reading Their Eyes Were Watching God for my summer AP English Reading. I feel terrible but I'm giving up on it; I decided to read another book instead. The reason I'm putting it down is because the dialect used in the book is extremely difficult; think Huck Finn except 10x harder because every character talks like Jim (but worse). I could figure out most of what they were saying but it took me so long to read just one page... I then decided that I want to read a book that I will be truly enjoying and not making myself pick up and read.

Thus I have decided that I will read Wuthering Heights instead. I can get it for free on my kindle so that's a bonus! :) I have heard many different reviews concerning this story. One person I know absolutely loved the book but I've also heard some pretty negative reviews of the book. I also read an article that said the book either received lots of praise or met much controversy by the public and critics. But nevertheless I think it sounds interesting and I'm excited to start reading it!

Keep Calm and Enjoy Your Summer

I loved reading all of the plans that you all have for the summer! :) Sounds like we will have lots of stories to tell when we see each other again! YJ's job for the summer- working at a coffee shop- is awesome! I've always wanted to work at a coffee shop, I think it would be pretty amazing! So have fun YJ... eat lots of treats and drink lots of coffee... for free?... maybe...? :) I don't know.. :P
Emma's job at Camp Orchard Hill is going to be epic!!! I'm very excited for her, I know she's going to have an incredible time and will learn a lot there!... hopefully ;) I'm looking forward to hearing more about what you are doing!

On a side note.. I like blogging. I used to have a blog when I was younger, but then when I got facebook I withdrew from the blogging world.. but now that I'm back I realize why I used to like it so much... :)   But before you guys get any ideas I deleted my old blog.. it was weird... haha.. yeah...

Everyday is like the weekend

Summer has officially arrived! These lazy days are the best; I love staying up late and then sleeping in until 10, it truly is a wonderful feeling. This summer holds many exciting plans for me as well as doing some summer work.
First of all I want to play lots of basketball and improve for next season. I hope to go to the park with Andrew and get some help from the best.. :P I also plan on running this summer! As most of you know I find running to be exhilarating and thrilling and I'm looking forward to many beautiful runs this summer :) Woot!!

I also hope to read some good books this summer. Other than the two books we have to read for AP English, I plan on reading Allegiant (last book in the Divergent Trilogy), Poisonwood bible, and others.

Of course I will not just be lazy the whole summer... I plan on getting a head start on my college application
process. I foresee that senior year is going to be very busy and hectic and I want to try to get as much of this process out of the way as possible. I also will be studying for the SAT... This will probably be the hardest for me to do this summer because I do not want to think about math equations or grammatical errors.. but I'm afraid it must be done.. eeek

Here's to a wonderful summer!
